Pomeroy was nearly wiped off the face of the earth by a devastating tornado in 1893. The spirit of the people prevailed and Pomeroy renewed itself as an agricultural community. A few of the downtown buildings were spared and now the town is experiencing a rebirth.  Click below for some of the tornado stories.
