There are three businesses here which have transcended the usual provincialism of a small midwestern town.
Byron's, on the surface, appears to be just another small town tavern. Inside you'll find Grateful Dead memorabilia as well as a host of pictures on the wall and posters on the ceiling from bands who have played there. Not your usual bar cover bands but singer-songwriters from places like Nashville, Chicago, L.A. and even as far away as Australia.
28 paces up the street is the Kaleidoscope Factory. Visitors graced our doors from 26 states and 7 foreign countries in 2011. In the back room and upper level of the same building is The College of Leonard. A folk school where you can learn kaleidoscope making, silk scarf marbling, fused glass, rope making, willow basket making and a host of other skills.
